Times and tastes are constantly changing. If you’ve grown tired of a tattoo, today’s cosmetic laser treatment is the perfect solution to get rid of it. With advancements in laser technology, tattoos that were once considered permanent can now be completely removed. Through advancements in tattoo removing technology, the lasers treat both amateur and professional tattoos, dark and large tattoos, as well as permanent make up tattoos with fewer treatments and less invasion.

Tattoo removal has been tried for as long as inking of the skin has been popular. Frequent motivators for removal include significant life events (wedding, divorce, or baby), a new job or difficulty finding clothing to cover it. Early forms of tattoo removal include injection of wine, lemon juice, garlic or worse. Later, dermabrasion and skin grafts were tried as crude but quick means, but could easily result in scarring. Laser tattoo removal began in the 1960’s but has always been a slow and painful process frequently requiring more than 12 treatments to break up the ink in order for the body to eliminate it.

Fortunately, technology has come much further. At Meadows Surgical Arts, our broad spectrum of technology is allowing us to speed this process along. The fractional CO2 Skin Resurfacing Laser, used in conjunction with the traditional Q-switched laser, creates microscopic openings in the skin that allow the ink to escape through the surface. With two modes of elimination, the process can be shorter.

Our laser treatments are done with local anesthesia to minimize patient discomfort, and safety is always a priority.
