Dr. Lionel Meadows is double board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. After receiving dual degrees in Biology and Chemistry from Emory University, he then went on to the Medical College of Georgia, receiving his Doctorate of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Tennessee.

Between identifying a need in the community and the realization of patient populations overlapping between OBGYN and cosmetic surgery, Dr. Meadows went on to become more specialized in the field of cosmetic surgery after practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology for more than a decade. In 2009, he began a year-long fellowship with world-renowned plastic surgeon, Dr. Jim English, which broadened his expertise in body and facial cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Meadows performs the majority of his surgical procedures in his state-of-the-art AAAHC accredited, office-based facility in Commerce, GA but also has privileges at multiple hospitals in the area. Dr. Meadows is well-known for his excellent cosmetic outcomes and is described by patients as knowledgeable, professional, and caring, often praying with patients before their surgery. Due to his extensive experience and results with Breast Augmentation, Abdominoplasty, and the Hetter Peel, these are consistently his most requested procedures.

In addition to completing the rigorous testing and training already required to become an ABCS certified surgeon, Dr. Meadows voluntarily acquired the Cosmetic Surgery Patient Safety certification, which represents his commitment to safety and ethical practice in the cosmetic surgery field.

Academically, Dr. Meadows is an active researcher and educator and speaks annually at the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) scientific meetings. He also regularly oversees medical students from the Philadelphia College of Medicine and trains at least one surgeon each year through the AACS fellowship program.

Originally from Macon, Georgia, Dr. Meadows now resides in North Georgia with his wife, Kathryn Meadows, RN BSN - a Master Injector at Meadows Surgical Arts. They share two children, a son (Aspen) and a daughter (Liesl). When he’s not in the office or spending time with family, Dr. Meadows enjoys flying, golfing, and playing guitar.

Dr. Meadows and Kathryn founded a non-profit organization, the Surgical Hope Foundation, in 2010, with the goal of helping to fulfill pressing medical needs for those without adequate medical coverage. Most recently, the Surgical Hope Foundation has provided otoplasty surgery for multiple youth as well as breast surgery for women with scarring, at no cost to the patients.

Since Dr. Meadows and his wife are also passionate about education, they offer scholarships each year to local area students who plan on entering the medical field. In 2021 alone, they awarded 9 recipients with a $1,000 scholarship through the Surgical Hope Foundation.

Beyond his local community contributions, in 2019, Dr. Meadows traveled with a team of volunteers to Tabuga, Ecuador, for ten days to provide much-needed medical care and to assist in building permanent structures to safely house surviving families from previous earthquakes in 2016. Since he was unable to travel abroad due to the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020-2021, Dr. Meadows plans to travel to Africa in 2022 to assist in running a medical clinic, as well as the construction of a children’s school for orphaned girls.
