Caitlin graduated from Georgia College and State University with a Master of Science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner) degree in May, 2017. She also holds a Bachelor of Science (Family and Consumer Sciences in Child and Family Development) from The University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Duke University.
Caitlin began her nursing career in February, 2011 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, working in oncology and women's surgery. While in this position, Caitlin was chosen to serve on the Unit Council representing her colleagues in consultation with the unit’s management. In 2013, Caitlin transitioned to Oncology Nurse Navigator working with breast cancer patients to provide patient education, support, financial assistance, and other resources. Caitlin also worked in Northside's Outpatient Infusion Center, administering intravenous chemotherapy and biotherapy agents and other biologic agents. She also gained experience caring for bone marrow transplant patients during this time.
In December, 2015, Caitlin married and moved to Athens to work in the ambulatory infusion suite at St. Mary's Hospital. She also worked at Oconee Heart and Vascular Center, developing a Cardio-Oncology program and serving as a Nurse Navigator with Dr. Erick Avelar. This program combined Caitlin's strong foundation in oncology with her interest in cardiology, as it monitored potential heart disease in patients who were undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment for cancer. Caitlin and Dr. Avelar published an article about their program in the monthly journal, Current Treatment Options in Cardiovascular Medicine.
Caitlin became a Nurse Practitioner and joined Meadows Surgical Arts in July, 2017. She is excited about the opportunity to help her patients look and feel their best, and to empower women in their healthcare decisions. She is an active member of the nursing honor society, Sigma Theta Tau International and the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH).
Caitlin is passionate about patient education, encouraging her patients to adopt healthy lifestyle changes in order to manage and prevent obesity-related diseases. Caitlin resides in Athens with her husband, and in her spare time enjoys going to UGA games to cheer on the bulldogs, reading, gardening, and traveling.
