FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Dr. Lionel D. Meadows, FAACS | American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery | Meadows Surgical Arts

FOR OUR PATIENTS

During your visit at Meadows Surgical Arts, you might meet a physician who is completing a training fellowship in cosmetic surgery. Dr. Meadows has completed fellowship training in the art of cosmetic surgery. The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) has awarded Meadows Surgical Arts with the honor of training other physicians in our Commerce and Buford locations. These physicians have completed rigorous residency programs in general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ear/nose/throat surgery, or oral maxillofacial surgery, and have pursued further training in cosmetic surgery. Fellows undergo a one-year, intense training program under Dr. Meadows and will be directly involved in your care.

FOR OUR POTENTIAL FELLOWS

We invite you to apply to the General Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship with Meadows Surgical Arts. This program includes direct involvement in over 750 surgical procedures over the one-year course. The fellowship covers all aspects of cosmetic surgery, including breast, major body contouring, liposuction, varicose vein surgery, and major facial cosmetic surgery procedures.

Fellows are involved with all aspects of a cosmetic surgery practice. Working closely with our physicians, office administrators, and marketing director, fellows will be equipped with the knowledge to start their own practice. Fellows are directly involved with patient care including: consultation, pre-op, marking, surgery, post-operative follow up, treatment of complications, and practice management. Daily instruction and teaching with most patients is paramount to our program. The typical case log will exceed 750 operative cases per year in our AAAHC-accredited surgical center. Oral questioning and instruction are given throughout the year. A reading list and written guidelines will be sent to the fellow who accepts the position.

Meadows Surgical Arts has two locations: one in Commerce, GA and one in Buford, GA. Our ambulatory surgery center and main office is a large AAAHC-accredited facility in Commerce, GA. Fellows have an office with access to an extensive library, a full-time physician on site, and access to ancillary faculty nearby.

A $60,000 per year stipend is offered, as well as an additional malpractice stipend up to $5,000. Fellows will be sent to one annual facial plastics conference. One fellow is taken per year.

PREREQUISITES FOR FELLOWS

Fellows must qualify per the AACS fellowship guidelines and must be able to obtain an unrestricted Georgia medical license and obtain personal malpractice insurance through Medical Protective’s program designed for AACS fellows.
