Love Lifts Us Up Where We Belong

Breast Lift | Breast Augmentation | Meadows Surgical Arts

Love lifts us up where we belong; Dr. Meadows does the same with breasts.

In 1716, Christopher Bullock wrote in The Cobbler of Preston that, "Tis impossible to be sure of anything but death and taxes!” It may be fair to say that women would beg to differ on that point, as most women find that due to age, pregnancy, nursing, or significant weight loss, one thing is certain: over time, their breasts will lose elasticity. As a result, the skin envelope will be too large for the underlying breast tissue, which will fall within that larger skin envelope. The breasts will appear saggy or droopy, with the nipple falling below the ideal position (which is halfway between a woman’s shoulder and elbow). And fail the pencil test.

Many women desire to enhance their figure with a surgical procedure that "lifts" their breasts (back where they belong!). The surgical procedure known to "lift" the breasts is called a Mastopexy, or better known as a Breast Lift. In some cases, the patient may desire to restore breast size and undergo a Breast Augmentation (Mammaplasty) along with a Breast Lift.

Recently, Dr. Meadows performed a Breast Lift with Breast Augmentation on a female patient in her early thirties who had experienced significant weight loss with our medical weight loss program (read more about our medical weight loss program here). The surgery was performed under general anesthesia at Meadows Surgical ArtsAAAHC accredited surgical facility in Commerce, GA. As most of our patients are unfamiliar with what goes on in the operating room and what this type of surgery may involve, we filmed this surgery to give you an idea of what to expect with a Breast Lift. A fews days after her surgery, our patient made the following comments:

“I’m definitely shocked! I can’t believe the difference, it’s a shocking change! Almost unbelievable… until you see it!”

"They are my breasts, but created by Dr. Meadows; he didn’t have much to work with, and look what he did! It’s amazing!”

“I could never in a million years express how I feel about Dr. Meadows… what he’s done for me, and helped me to do, is nothing short of miraculous! He has changed my life and I could never repay him! I am beyond thankful for him and his family and his business, and I pray God will abundantly bless him!”

A NOTE ABOUT THE PENCIL TEST

How can you determine if a Breast Lift is right for you? You probably know just by looking; if your breasts are hanging lower than they used to, or lower than you’d like, you may desire a Breast Lift. If you’re not sure, take the pencil test: lift the breast, place a pencil horizontally against the skin in the fold under the breast, let go of the breast, and then let go of the pencil. If the pencil drops to the floor, PASS. No lift needed. If the pencil is held in place under the breast after you let go of the pencil, FAIL. But wait… the pencil test is actually too simple to determine if a Breast Lift is right for you; in the case of a failed pencil test, the position of the nipple will determine whether or not a lift is needed. If the nipple is above the inframammary fold (where you just had the pencil), you could do a Breast Augmentation without a Breast Lift. If the position of the nipple is below the inframammary fold, a Breast Lift would be right for you. If you can’t tell by looking in the mirror, do the pinch test: take your hand and hold the opposite side breast by putting your fingers in the inframammary fold, and keeping your thumb at the front of your breast. Move your thumb tip until is directly over place where your middle finger is, and pinch. If your thumb tip is lower than your nipple when you pinch, you would not need a Breast Lift when having a Breast Augmentation. If your thumb tip is above your nipple when you pinch, you would benefit from a Breast Lift with your Breast Augmentation.
